Ship Recycling
Regulations for Ship Recycling in the EU and Worldwide
When a ship reaches the end of its service life, a significant portion of its materials can be recycled. Each year, approximately 750 commercial ships are recycled, with most of the recycling taking place in Asia.
Recycling ships without proper regard for the environment and working conditions is unacceptable and Danish Shipping advocates for clear and ambitious regulations to ensure safe and sustainable ship recycling practices.
We strongly support the Hong Kong Convention, which is an international regulation of ship recycling addressing both the protection of the environment and worker safety.
