Graduation Day: Largest Number of Trainees Ever to Graduate from Danish Shipping Education

Today, 58 trainees received their diploma for completing their two-year education at Danish Shipping Education at a ceremony in Copenhagen.

The joyous event took place in beautiful Danish summer weather at Langelinie in the heart of Copenhagen.

Anne Windfeldt Trolle, Executive Director of Labor Market, Recruitment and Education at Danish Shipping congratulated the graduates with their achievement and wished them well on their journey:

“This next part takes courage. And responsibility. But luckily, it also takes things you already have: curiosity, creativity, and the ability to collaborate. And perhaps most importantly, a sense of humour — which will come in very handy when the container tracking system goes down on a Friday afternoon.”

“You’re walking away with more than a certificate. You have a network. A foundation. And a story that started with DSE — a story that will follow you into shipping companies, ports, partnerships, and maybe even places none of us expected,” said Anne Windfeldt Trolle in her speech.

Two awards were handed out at the graduation ceremony: "Best FIE-Assignment of the Year" and "Best Buddy of the Year"

Caroline Marcher from WECO Tankers won the award for Best Buddy of the Year. She warmly recommended Danish Shipping Education:

“I think it is a great education. Especially for those of us who might not thrive in a more traditional educational environment. It has been great to be able to use your energy on both work and school at the same time” (Our translation, ed.)

Caroline Marcher already has her future in place as she has signed on to continue at WECO Tankers in Singapore and later on in Houston.

Danish Shipping Education is geared towards trainees from shipping companies, bunker companies or other sorts of shipping companies and combines theoretical and practical learning. Trainees enrolled with Danish Shipping Education are employed in trainee positions in their individual companies both before and during DSE. This ensures a strong practical complement to the education’s theoretical aspects and leads to holistic learning and solid understanding of the field.
