Denmark once again among the world’s best-performing flag states

Denmark is one of just ten flag states with “green” indicators for every criterion used in the assessment, which is published annually by ICS, an international trade association for shipowners and operators. The table shows the extent to which flag states comply with international maritime conventions, rules and regulations.

The other nations, in addition to Denmark, with green indicators across the board are France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Malta, Norway, Singapore and the United Kingdom.*

The criteria used to compile ICS’s Flag State Performance Table include ratification of relevant international conventions, port state control, white- and blacklists, low average fleet age, audits of IMO member states, and much more.
