Winner of Diversity Award announced
Thursday afternoon, Danish Shipping announced the winner of the DEI Award 2023. Trine Hoffmann from A.P. Moller - Maersk emerged victorious in a strong field of nominees found among shipping companies.
Under festive circumstances, Danish Shipping declared Trine Hoffmann from A.P. Moller - Maersk as the winner of the DEI Award 2023 at a large Pride event. The jury placed special emphasis on Trine Hoffmann's extraordinary drive, her high level of ambition, and her contribution to elevating diversity to a new level within her organization.

The selection:
In the selection, the jury placed emphasis on the nominated individual or company having brought about change either within the industry or locally within the company in at least one DEI area (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), by, for example:
Creating a new initiative within the DEI area by actively incorporating new knowledge or practices within the field.
Working actively to promote a DEI mindset among employees, leaders, and partners, and thus appearing as a strong company ambassador within the field.

This marks the second time that Danish Shipping has presented the Diversity Award, which recognizes a shipping company or individual who has made a significant effort to promote diversity, gender equality, and inclusion within the shipping industry. This year's nominees included MOLSLINJEN, which has increased the number of female ship assistants fivefold in just a few years, and Hafnia for their initiative "Maritime Culture Lab," where four ships sail with a crew comprising 50% women to generate knowledge on better supporting the goal of having more women on ships.
Two individuals were also nominated: Neele Pawlowski from Clipper, one of the initiators of the Women in Shipping Denmark network, and the winner, Trine Hoffmann from A.P. Moller - Maersk, for her central role in the company's cultural transformation with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion.
"It was challenging to choose one among the four nominees, as all their contributions are commendable and noteworthy. Ultimately, Trine stood out because her initiatives are both very concrete and manageable, often leading to new and positive outcomes. Additionally, she is persistent and treats all employees – whether they work on land or at sea – with great respect. This is why she wins the Danish Shipping´s DEI Award 2023," says Anne W. Trolle.
